1. Stephen Shore

2. October 8, 1947

3. He began his photography career at the age of 14 but he was interested in it even since the age of 6 when he received a darkroom kit. he taught himself how to photograph and began taking color photos at the age of 9. He showed his photographs to a man named Edward Steichen, who eventually bought 3 of his works. When he turned 24 he was the second living person to have a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He wrote a book in 1982 called Uncommon Places. This book is known to prove that a photograph in color can also be considered a work of art. In 1972 he photographed the back streets of many different small towns.

4. He was known for being one of the first photographers to take photos in color. His two best known works were Uncommon Places and American Surfaces. He is also known for his landscape photographs and cityscapes in the US.

5. What attracted me to the works of Stephen shore was that he takes pictures of everyday scenes like in cities or out in the country. Some of his photos are out in the country and in color it captures how beautiful the landscape is. In black and white you cannot really see the whole picture. I think that the color in his pictures is the best part of his work.
